Franklyn Shapiro, MD Founder and Chairman
Dr. Shapiro founded Workplace Medical Corp. (WMC) in 1947. He began
his family practice in his parents' home in the industrial district
of Hamilton, Ontario - and quickly branched into providing medical
services for local manufacturers and others. Today, he provides the
overall medical direction for the company. Dr. Shapiro has earned
a reputation as an accomplished primary care physician and astute
businessman. He has been awarded and recognized for his leadership
and contribution to community life.

William Shapiro, P Eng, MBA
President
Bill began his working career as a software engineer and IT specialist for a biotechnology company. He joined Wilson Medical Centre in 1991 after receiving his MBA, and has overseen Workplace Medical Corp.’s recent expansion and acquisition phases. He is responsible for corporate management, strategic planning, financial management and administration.

Angelo Carofano, MBA, CMA
Director,
Finance & Administration
Prior to his current position, Mr. Carofano was an integral part of a successful family owned business in the food distribution and retail sector. He received his Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) in 1997 and took several management positions in commercial and corporate banking with a Canadian Chartered Bank.
In 2002, Workplace Medical Corp. appointed Mr. Carofano as Director of Finance & Administration. He then received his Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation in 2007.
Mr. Carofano continues to utilize his strong business acumen to position Workplace Medical Corp. as a leader in providing effective occupational health services to companies across Canada.

Craig Karpilow, MD
Occupational
Health Medical Director
Dr. Karpilow has more than 29 years of clinical and administrative experience in occupational medicine. He has experience managing large multi-physician and staff occupational health departments. He is a fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (FACOEM) and a member of the College of Occupational & Environmental Medicine of Canada. Dr. Karpilow received his medical training at Dalhousie University and Memorial University of Newfoundland.
He is also a published author of an Occupational Medicine textbook, several chapters in other Occupational Health books, and many articles in other formats.
Supervising our team of physicians, nurses, medical technicians and program administrators, Dr. K will be responsible for ensuring that your occupational health program will maintain the highest standards for quality, service and implementation.
