Active Canadian Emergency Training, a division of Workplace Medical Corp, reports two exciting new developments:

  1. We have been successful in winning one of the Vendor of Record contracts for AED training for the Government of Ontario
  2. The price of the industry leading LIFEPAK CR Plus AED has been drastically reduced to just $1995

The Government of Ontario recently purchased approximately 300 AEDs for government offices across the province, further establishing AEDs as a standard component of a health and safety program.

More and more public and private organizations are putting in AEDs because they save lives. Chances of survival from a cardiac arrest are reduced by 7 to 10 percent with every minute that passes without CPR and defibrillation. Few attempts at resuscitation succeed after 10 minutes.

In June 1999, automated external defibrillators (AEDs) were mounted 1 minute apart in plain view at Chicago's O'Hare and Midway airports. In the first 10 months, 14 sudden cardiac arrests occurred, with 12 of the 14 victims in ventricular fibrillation. Nine of the 14 victims (64 percent) were revived with an AED and had no brain damage.

In 2000, the City of Ottawa implemented the first large scale Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program in Canada. With the public policy objective that AED should be as accessible as fire extinguishers, the city purchased over 300 AEDs for their public facilities. Active Canadian was the sole provide of AED training for city employees and for the public courses provided for the citizens of Ottawa by the City.

The recent success with the Government of Ontario tender for AED training further confirms Active Canadians' position as a leader in the field.

The time is right to consider an AED in your organization. Especially now that the industry leader, the LIFEPAK CR Plus has been reduced to $1995. It was not that long ago that this AED sold for just under $5000!

The LIFEPAK CR Plus was the AED of choice for the PAD (public access programs) for the City of Toronto, City of Windsor and the LIFEPAK 500 AED was the AED chosen for the Pearson International Airport. The LIFEPAK Monitor/Defibrillators is the standard for EMS, police and fire services throughout North America.

Active Canadian has established itself as a leader in providing AED programs because of our unique approach and full service.

In our training course we use what we term “The Approach”, to provide students with the confidence required to respond to a medical emergency until the emergency response professionals arrive. Since ACET instructors are all emergency response professionals, the students have a realistic and engaging training experience.

The “Extended Support” program includes on-line skill updates to ensure your employees maintain their knowledge between recertification courses, AED equipment support including tracking of batteries and electrodes, physician case review of all incidents (including event download) and site-coordinator binder, critical incident stress debriefing, Life Saving Award and much more.
